Fog City Stables' grade I winner Roman Ruler will not make the trip to New York for Saturday's Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I), trainer Bob Baffert said, and will instead run in the $500,000 Goodwood Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II) at Oak Tree at Santa Anita on the same day.

F. Jack Liebau has been named president of the Hollywood Park Racing Association, replacing Rick Baedeker, who has joined Stockbridge Capital Group, LLC, the company that now oversees the Inglewood, Calif. track.
Liebau will continue in his role as president of Bay Meadows Racing Association while also taking the helm at Hollywood Park. Stockbridge, which is also the parent company of the Bay Meadows Racing Association, completed the purchase of Hollywood Park from Churchill Downs Incorporated for $257.5 million on Sept. 23.

Castleton Lyons Confirmed as Alex Suitor; Deal Expected |

A deal to sell the breeding rights to Preakness (gr. I) and Belmont (gr. I) winner Afleet Alex is in the works and is expected to be finalized shortly, J.J. Graci, publicist for owner Cash is King Stable, told The Blood-Horse Friday.
Graci confirmed that one of the farms in the running is Castleton Lyons in Lexington, Ky. He did not name any of the other potential bidders.
