Keeneland's New Track Geometry - 2006/10/29 16:34 Keeneland included a section of its new "Track Geometry" on its web site. The information included:

Main Stretch: 1,235.6
Main Finish line to first turn: 321.8
Thus, the end of final turn to start of first turn = 1557.4 ... which I assume is also the length of the backstretch.

Widths:
First turn: 75 feet
backstretch: 75 feet
final turn: 80 feet

It also says that the new track has symmetrical turns with a 410-foot radius on first turn and a 420-foot radius on final turn.

I assume that means that the turns are of different size.

Could someone tell me how to determine the circumferences of the 2 turns and the length of backstretch so that the total track circumference is 8.5 furlongs?

Any insights, comments or answers would be appreciated!

Thanks!
