Just when the dust of Christmas and Valentine’s Day settles, you look up and it’s only about 10 weeks to the Kentucky Derby. How time flies when you are having a good time.

One of the first possible stars to show on the horizon is Notional. One of his obvious assets is that he has already proven he doesn’t have to drag his track around with him. The fact he won at first asking for Doug O’Neill was a harbinger of things to come as that barn seldom has them cranked to the gills.

With jockey Ramon Dominguez sidelined with a leg injury, his lead over Eibar Coa has dwindled to six, 67 to 61 after ten weeks of racing on the inner track. Chuck Lopez continues to hold the third spot with 51 victories and continues to provide value to his fans. Lopez' winning mounts average a solid $12.20 win mutuel.

Aqueduct Aces of the Day: Veteran jockey Eddie Martin scored a riding double at Aqueduct Thursday and now has 19 victories on the inner track. Trainer James Ryerson saddled two winners that got home with nice numbers. The Ryerson-trained RED SAIL AT SUNSET won the sixth race to pay $11.00 and MISTER ALIMONY took the nightcap at $17.80.

Aqueduct Aces of the Day: Four riders notched riding doubles Wednesday. Eibar Coa, Pablo Fragoso, Mike Luzzi, and Alan Garcia each made two trips to the winner's circle. Coa cut the sidelined Ramon Dominguez' lead in the jockey standings to nine. Norberto Arroyo, banged up in a spill on Saturday, is expected to be out of action for a week.
