By FullCardReports.com Saratoga Ace of the Day: Trainer Richard Schosberg and jockey John Velazquez notched two victories each on Sunday's program but the day's star was STREET SENSE who came off the layoff from his victory in the Kentucky Derby to win the Grade 2 Jim Dandy. The Carl Nafzger-trainee had a ground-saving trip under Calvin Borel until the turn for home when STREET SENSE was taken off the rail to engage C P WEST who had taken the lead from pacesetter FLASHSTORM. STREET SENSE was up to the task as he went by C P WEST to be clear by a length and a half at the wire. C P WEST held the place over SIGHTSEEING who was going well late to be third. COWTOWN CAT, FLASHSTORM, and TIZ WONDERFUL completed the order of finish. STREET SENSE is a 3-year-old son of STREET CRY and improved his record to five wins from ten starts. He stopped the clock in 1:48.99 and returned $2.70. The $894,832 show pool had almost $660,000 in bets on STREET SENSE. The minimum $2.10 show payoff made for a minus-pool of $143,181. |

By Patrick Hagan of the Daily Schwt Being well-versed in wagering on races contested over synthetic racing surfaces, I consider myself at an advanced polylevel. My five-figure Pick Six score (written as part of an exclusive article here 2 months ago) at Hollywood Park on April 28th attests to that. |

By Joe Takach No picture of correct walking in the paddock can be complete without taking note if a horse is walking wide in the front. Walking wide in the front implies either tenderness or just plain tiredness. |

By www.FullCardReports.com Saratoga's opening week will present a strong series of stakes headed by the 80th running of the $750,000 Grade 1 Whitney Handicap for 3-year-olds and up at nine furlongs on July 28th, the first Saturday of the meet. The Whitney will be the top race on an 11-race live race card that features three other stakes races at Saratoga that are part of the new Breeders’ Cup Challenge series: the $250,000 Grade 1 Go for Wand Handicap for fillies and mares at nine furlongs, the $500,000 Grade 1 Diana for fillies and mares at nine furlongs on the turf, and the $250,000 Grade 2 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap for 3-year-olds and up at six furlongs. It’s a “Win and You’re In” format, as the winners of these races will automatically qualify, respectively, for the Breeders’ Cup Classic, Breeders’ Cup Distaff, Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf, and Breeders’ Cup Sprint that will be held at Monmouth Park on Saturday, October 27th. |
