Saratoga Ace of the Day: Trainer Richard Schosberg and jockey John Velazquez notched two victories each on Sunday's program but the day's star was STREET SENSE who came off the layoff from his victory in the Kentucky Derby to win the Grade 2 Jim Dandy. The Carl Nafzger-trainee had a ground-saving trip under Calvin Borel until the turn for home when STREET SENSE was taken off the rail to engage C P WEST who had taken the lead from pacesetter FLASHSTORM. STREET SENSE was up to the task as he went by C P WEST to be clear by a length and a half at the wire. C P WEST held the place over SIGHTSEEING who was going well late to be third. COWTOWN CAT, FLASHSTORM, and TIZ WONDERFUL completed the order of finish. STREET SENSE is a 3-year-old son of STREET CRY and improved his record to five wins from ten starts. He stopped the clock in 1:48.99 and returned $2.70. The $894,832 show pool had almost $660,000 in bets on STREET SENSE. The minimum $2.10 show payoff made for a minus-pool of $143,181.

Troubled Trip: In Sunday's fifth race, a state-bred maiden special for 2-year-old fillies at 5 1/2 furlongs, firster MADAM COMMANDER came out of post five, stumbled, and then took a nasty bump. Racing tenth of eleven under Cornelio Velasquez after a quarter, she got into gear and began to pick off horses. SPEAK PROUDLY ($30.60) wired the field but MADAM COMMANDER was a respectable fourth, less than a length away from the winner at the finish. Give MADAM COMMANDER a long look next out.

Trainer Todd Pletcher breezed Winstar Farm’s and Padua Stable’s ANY GIVEN SATURDAY four furlongs Sunday morning over Belmont’s fast track in 49.22. The Grade 2 Dwyer winner will be shipped to Monmouth Park on Tuesday for next Sunday’s Grade 1 Haskell Invitational where he will compete against Preakness winner CURLIN and Kentucky Derby runner-up HARD SPUN.

Trainer Bill Mott's MY TYPHOON, winner of Saturday's Grade 1 Diana has no solid future plans except for the Breeders' Cup but Mott indicated she may go next in the $200,000 Grade 2 Ballston Spa Handicap at 1 1/16 miles on Travers Day, Saturday, August 25th.

Trainer Bobby Frankel said that Go For Wand winner GINGER PUNCH came out of her first Grade 1 victory in good order and will now be pointed to the $300,000 Grade 1 Ruffian September 8th at Belmont Park.

DIABOLICAL, Saturday’s winner of the Grade 2 Alfred G. Vanderbilt, will most likely make his next start in the $400,000 Grade 1 Vosburgh Stakes at Belmont Park on September 30th, according to trainer Steve Klesaris.

Jockey Norberto Arroyo, involved in the same spill that left fellow jockey Andrew Lakeman paralyzed, could return to the saddle this week. Arroyo, who suffered a broken collarbone in that May 26th spill at Belmont Park, had several horses to work Sunday morning and expects to return to racing shortly.

Two stakes are scheduled for Monday's 9-race program. The $80,000 Banshee Breeze is a 9-furlong dirt race for fillies and mares who have never won a stakes but the feature is the $150,000 Grade 2 Amsterdam, a 6 1/2-furlong sprint for 3-year-olds. The Amsterdam drew a field of nine headed by Nick Zito's MOST DISTINGUISHED (2/1) who was last seen going second to TEUFELSBERG in the Grade 2 Woody Stephens at Belmont Park. MOST DISTINGUISHED is 2/5/3 from 11 starts with both wins coming at a mile. This son of DIXIE UNION has a lot of speed and may be in the mix throughout with the cutback. MOST DISTINGUISHED will start from post eight with Rafael Bejarano.

Gary Contessa's AMERICANUS (5/2) has all four of his wins from seven starts at six and seven furlongs. Last out, he got by his first-level allowance condition by more than five lengths when he went seven furlongs in 1:22 flat at Belmont Park on June 23rd. The Amsterdam will be his first venture with stakes company. AMERICANUS drew post seven and will have the services of Eibar Coa.

Churchill shipper ROMAN'S RUN (6/1) is trained by Dale Romans and is currently on a two-race win streak. He won a first-level allowance at a mile on June 20th and then came back to win an $80,000 optional claimer at seven furlongs on July 4th. This is his first race with stakes company and it's encouraging to see that he won from the rail in his last start. ROMAN'S RUN will be skimming the fence under Garrett Gomez.

The Longshot: OUT OF GWEDDA (10/1) has won three of nine starts and has been in Todd Pletcher's barn twice. Now trained by Billy Badgett, this son of OUT OF PLACE is graded-stakes placed and was an OK third last out in the Inside The Beltway at Belmont Park. He scorched a second-level allowance field on June 29th when he won at seven furlongs in a very fast 1:21.3. He seems to fire when he wants to but if he's on his game for this one, he could pull the upset at a generous price. OUT OF GWEDDA will start from the five-hole and reunites with Kent Desormeaux who was aboard for the victory on June 29th.

HOLY CANYON, STARBASE, ELITE SQUADRON, SIR FIVE STAR, and FORTY GRAMS complete the field.

Nobody Picked 6 Sunday, leaving a hefty $92,503 carryover in play for Monday's action.
